That doesn't make a religion stronger; religions that refuse to adapt to changing circumstances tend to lose followers and die out. Ancient Greek and Aztec gods are good examples of this - no one worships them anymore because they have no place in modern society.
The Church has changed its position on numerous things many times over many years. Like any other institution, if it becomes stagnant with changes society it dies or becomes irrelevant. Just like everything else, it needs to evolve to survive.

So what there are a lot of long standing institutions that does not mean we can't edit old thoughts to accommodate a new and modern society. Faith is great for those who need it but there is a real problem with people DYING!!! Education and compassion for those who need it most is the most loving and Christian stance there is. WWJD? think about it would he encourage people to abstain from sexual relations probably but he surely would want to do anything possible to save the live of those who need it most. "The Roman Catholic Church doesn't fold to outside pressure" well maybe it should consider needs other than suckering poor ignorant saps out of their cash to get into heaven and work on solving real world problems. Oh yea Pope Jean-Paul agreed with the use of condoms and sex education so what exactly would the Roman Catholic Church be folding to? Racist ignorant outdated and intolerant ideals from and ex-Nazi Pope that's right he was a Nazi!!!!!!!!!!!
China is much older than the Roman Catholic Church and it's leaders don't fold either...Chinese leaders maintain their ancient hegemony in the same manner as the church has for centuries. Look it up.
